Edmund in a “Dungeon”

EdmundThis is from Skandar Keynes’ official website:Edmund (LWW)

Skandar is still at Cleveland. But instead of being on the magical Dawn Treader Edmund is filthy, bruised and finding himself in another dungeon.

Perhaps this is referring to Edmund and the others being captured by Pug?

Thanks to ‘Zoe and Rose’ and ‘Salem.’

yeah I read about this a couple of days ago… It probably refers to being captured by Pug

  2. ExtremeFan says:

  3. WarriorQueen says:

Yes, I would think it has to do with Pug.

  4. Zoe says:

That's what I thought….because there aren't any other dungeons of any kind in VDT, unless they change the story entirely. πŸ™‚ A dungeon isn't mentioned after they're captured by Pug, but he has to keep them somewhere overnight, right?

    • Aravis(narniafan#1) says:

      Yea. That makes sense…
But why JUST edmund? Where's Lucy, Eustace, Reep, and Caspian? Maybe this is why Lucy called out for Edmund in those pics of her. I REALLY REALLY REALLY wish they'd put a video or pictures of him soon. I'm DYING to see my beautiful Skandar bruised up!!!

      • Zoe says:

The info was from SKANDAR's official site, so it only mentions him, but it is implied that the others are there as well.

      • daredevil says:

No-one said it was JUST Edmund though. Since it is Skandars official site it's only commenting on what Skandar is doing. The others could be (and very probably are) there too.

      • narniafan4ever says:

yeah, they better all be there! Otherwise, they will be straying from the book….again. πŸ™

  5. Adeona says:

If this refers to when they are captured by Pug + pals, this is awesome. Moving right along!

  6. TumnusTheBrave says:

how can u tell hes in a dungeon?

  7. Lucy the Valiant says:

Hmmmm… this will be interesting! Can't wait for December 10th!! Yea!!!!

    • Ariel_of_Narnia says:

sorry to dampen you a little further, but you're forgetting the "2010" part of the date. πŸ˜‰

  8. 7chronicles says:

I'm sure it's when Pug takes them to the slave market. I wonder if Edmund will mention anything about the last time when he was in the White Witch's prison, maybe to tie in the other movies and as a reminder of how much Edmund has changed since LWW.

    • 220chrisTian says:

I think you have a point about LWW. When I read the quote from his website, my first thought was the dungeon the White Witch throws Edmund in. Remember Tumnus and stale bread? πŸ˜‰

    • Glenstorm the Great says:

that would be really cool. Edmund's growth as a character is an important part in this book- well the past 3.

    • WillMoseleyandcrush! says:

Good thinking, 7chronicles. I'd be really cool if that's why. My little brother says you should be the director for the next movie when I told him your idea! LOL! But I wouldn't be surprised. U should tell them that idea. Not that you would, or anything. I mean, I wouldn't be brave enough to tell them. But I TOTALLY am killing myself for videos or pics of my dearest in a dungeon!!!! CANNOT wait for the movie!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    • Silver the Wanderer says:

Hey 7chronicles that's a great idea! Now that you mention it, I really hope they do that. It'd be a great little moment between Edmund and Lucy, I think.

    • VERY GOOD THEORY, 7CHRONICHLES! Oh, I wish they had a pic of Skandar in his makeup! I bet all the fangirls here would start crying, though. :)Maybe something will come from the set in a few days…

    • narniafan4ever says:

That would be great, 7chronicles! Awesome idea!

    • Ariel_of_Narnia says:

**whistle** that'd be kinda sweet, actually…

    • celtic13 says:

yeah, 7chronicles, that's a good idea! I also think it's important to show Edmund's growth since LWW. I think it'd be cool if they used your idea in the movie. An idea I just had about showing Edmund's growth would be when they're with the magician and the dufflepuds and they're having the enchanted dinner, and he makes a remark about not wanting turkish delight. πŸ™‚
      Anyhow, great idea 7chronicles! β™₯ it! πŸ™‚

  9. icarus says:

VDT, Chapter 3: "Caspian was sorry for the others languishing in the hold of Pug's slave-ship, but he could not help finding the rest of that day enjoyable."

    • Silver the Wanderer says:

Hmm – I wonder what SORT of dungeon it is. When I think of "dungeon", I think of the dark, dank, underground type of dungeon. But they could be in a "dungeon" in Pug's slave ship too…

    • JadistarkilleR says:

i thought of the same thing as Silver Wanderer, that it would be the dungeons at the slave market, unless of course they managed to create another ship deck representing Pug's slave ship to fit that prison hold scene that they're shooting.

makes me kinda wonder if this is the scene where they meet MLG?

  10. Narnia Lover says:

OH MY GOSH! THAT'S SO COOL!!! πŸ˜€ Even though I don't think it was in the book! SAIL ON VDT!!! πŸ˜€

    • Narnia Lover says:

OH WAIT! There's that part where they were kidnapped by Pug and where going to be sold as slaves! I forgot about that part! Lol my bad! πŸ˜€

    • narniaismylife says:

it is in the book.it's the part when they captured by pug

    • Yeah. They were captured by Pug and his motly crew and everything, but the only time in the book where they were held anywhere was the slave ship, if I remember right. I just hope that the filmmakers don't get to many creative ideas and the next thing we know we are all horrified by some scene where Ed is beaten by the slave traders or something like that…

      • Hannah says:

I don't know…it could be a nice scene if he was beaten to save someone else from a beating. Kind of like what Aslan did for him in LWW.

      • narniafan4ever says:

That would be interesting and neat. But, it isn't really in the book…..unless they made it so that instead of Eustace getting beat for being so grumpy, Edmund would take it. That would also show how much Edmund has grown since LWW. But, it is so sad to see the characters that you come so attached to by watching all the movies to be beaten and hurt. πŸ™ I mean, its almost like seeing a close friend getting hurt! I hope they don't let Lucy get hurt! That would be super sad! πŸ™

      • narniafan4ever says:

They would be beaten by Pug. Of course, he wouldn't really want to beat them if he is trying to sell them for a good price….hmmm…

      • It would be cool if they had Edmund do that, especially a selfless thing like taking a beating for bratty Eustace. Maybe somethign liek that will happen, since the news story says that he's bruised? hmmm…. this could get interesting…

      • narniafan4ever says:

yeah, my thoughts exactly. πŸ™‚ It's like Edmund would be sympathizing for Eustace, realizing that he was once a brat as well.

  11. narniaismylife says:

    o okay

  12. narnia365 says:

Well, at least this time, we kind of know what they're filming.

  13. Narnia Girl says:

  14. daughter of the King says:

Another dungeon? Are they referring to the dungeon in LWW, or is there more than one dungeon that Edmund will wind up in in the movie?

    • Narniamiss says:

The LWW dungeon is NOT in the DT book at all. This is a totally separate dungeon, one that is hopefully part of the slave scene when Pug has them.

  15. Reepicheep775 says:

It's probably the dungeon on the Lone Islands like everyone is saying. At least I hope. hahaha

    • GlimGlum says:

Yes, it makes sense that Narrowhaven would have one for when the slaves are taken off the slave ships.

      • Narniamiss says:

But are they even in a dungeon in the book? I thought they were just in the slave ship's hold.

      • GlimGlum says:

Well, they are sold at the slave market before Caspian and the others arrive there. So it does leave the door open for them to be taken there the night before, when Caspian spends the night with Lord Bern.

      • Narniamiss says:

Ah, another "Lewis leaving room for detai" thing. Could be. I'm certainly not against the idea, it actually sounds kind of neat.

      • Prince Norin says:

The old BBC version took this liberty… They placed the kids and Reepicheep in a dungeon-like hold on the mainland overnight, so the scene would not be without precedence.

      • narniafan4ever says:

I see what you all are saying. And it's in the book. πŸ™‚ If you remember, Lucy starts to cry after Lord Bern buys Caspian and takes him away. But then Pug tells her to stop crying cause she would ruin her looks for the slave trade the NEXT DAY. Just a thought. Sail on! And thank you for the update, "Zoe and Rose" and "Salem"! πŸ™‚ (and thank you to Skandar as well. πŸ™‚

      • narniafan4ever says:

haha…..but about the whole dungeon thing….i don't know. Hopefully, the dungeon they are talking about is the one on the ship. PLEASE! πŸ™

  16. loverforBen says:

Well, that might be where they get captured by Pug!

  17. Narnia Freak says:

Awsome! I also think that it's from the pugs slave sceen and it would be a great moment for lucy and edmund because if you think about it edmund would have to confort lucy after caspian gets sold and he has to be there to tell eustace to be quiet.^^

  18. Lucille Brown says:

Hopefully this is Pug's slave ship.

  19. The part that worries me here is "another dungeon." Now that is either absolutely nothing and is simply referring to him being in the White witch's dungeon in LWW, or it means he is in a dungeon twice in VDT. I'm hoping it's the former.

  20. edmund rox says:

Edmund captured by Pug eh? What about Eustace and Lucy? Where are they?

    • Prince Norin says:

My guess is that Will and Georgie are filming there as well. The report was from Skandar's website, and it seems to me that they would just report on Skandar, not necessarily on his co-stars.

  21. Mirima Rosetrader says:

I say captured by Pug too. Lucy has to be too though as does Eustace and Lucy. Caspian is lucky and gets bought before he is on Pug's ship (Man that sounds weird, Caspian being bought). Any pictures of him? I hope there is. OMG!!! I cannot wait to see this part in the movie! I love captures! They are so exciting! Sail on VDT!!! Long live King Caspian!

  22. narnian resident says:

this is cool, having them all dirty and bruised from being with the slave trade. it would be cool if they stayed overnight. it would make it more interesting, as we wait for caspian to do his thing after he was bought.

  23. Lillyput90 says:

How interesting! There could be another dungeon, if you think about it, they may choose to use a land based dungeon rather the the hold of Pug's ship. The Lone Islands are really the only place there could be a dungeon, in my mind. Who knows perhaps they will do something really interesting with the "Dark Island" and have really big, graphic, nightmares that everyone gets involved in. Maybe with Edmund imagining he's in a dungeon and can't defend his friends (going back to the thoughts of being in the White Witch's dungeon). That sort of thing is easily imagined in filmaking.

  24. Beren says:

If it's not Pug's dungeon, then I could become very annoyed.

  25. Braden Woodburn says:

Man, I so remember the book and I have read it all. Just, for some reason them being in a dungeon doesn't ring a bell. Hmm, guess I will just have to watch the whole movie put together. Thanks for the info!

  26. fnafa4ever says:

Um, at least it's Edmund in a Dungeon and not Skandar in jail… lol. Let's be positive here. πŸ˜€

  27. ReepI says:

I hope they are referring to the Lady of the green Kirtles secret underwater lair where she keeps the stolen souls she got via the curse of Caspians Forefathers.

    • Princess Arya says:

      Wait what?

    • Starlily says:

Don't you mean you hope they AREN'T referring to that? That would be a horrible change from the book! And it doesn't sound very likely.

      • ReepI says:

No, I love it when they change things, we all know how the story goes, just seeing it would be boring, so if they change things they make it all more exciting, like adding the Lady of the green kirtle in VDT and the other stuff I wrote above that was in that leaked script.

      • Princess Arya says:

        *gasp* *flinch*

    • Silver the Wanderer says:

NO! I'm sorry, I respect your opinion and everything, but that would be horrid…*shudders*

    • decarus says:

Oh Reepi, not even as a joke. Some might not realize you are being sarcastic.

      • Narniamiss says:

πŸ˜€ Oh yeah, I heard about that too. Except the Lady of the Green Kirtle fell in love with Caspian, and vowed her love forever.

      • narniafan4ever says:

ugh! *gags and feels sick* That wouldn't even be worthy of the title "Voyage of the Dawn Treader" ! :p

      • Narniamiss says:

No kidding. Maybe something like, "Voyage of the Love Boat?" πŸ˜€

      • narniafan4ever says:

        yeah…how appropriate! lol

      • Starlily says:

Lol that would be so shockingly horrid! Let's stop talking about it, before we create a monster that comes back to bite us. πŸ˜‰

      • Eden says:

OH MY GOSH! I never read the VotDT leaked script! All of that *gags* /stuff/ was in there?!?! How could they even come up with such crazy ideas? *shakes head*

  28. yeswelovenarnia says:

maybe pug or gumpas that's all i can figure/

  29. Beth says:

Poor Skandar! He gets to be bruised and locked up in jail on two Narnia movies!!!! πŸ™‚

  30. Swiftblade Jess says:

Yikes! Looks like Caspian has got some rescuing to do! Couldn't they have more sense then that??!!!!!

  31. Edmund-is-hot says:

    OMG! My poor baby!
I bet he looks fit though πŸ˜‰

  32. I wonder how this is going to turn out….

  33. narniafan4ever says:

Does anyone know how to set a picture in the little box on the left? πŸ™‚ help!

  34. katrina says:

    more and more progress, yah!!!!!

  35. Lady Polly says:

How is Edmund going to handle it?

  36. Anonymous Narnian says:

Yeah, Eddie torture! I'm glad we'll get some Pug footage in here, prospectively. Good.

  37. pselpevensie says:

this must be when pug has him and the others captured.

  38. Feather~Light~Heart says:

Poor Edmund in a dungeon again πŸ™ πŸ˜‰ …I wonder if in the movie they'll have him make reference or something to the last time he was in a dungeon?? Hm…….Could be an interesting, sweet scene…between him and Lucy… πŸ˜‰

  39. Narnianerd says:

AHHHHHHHH! I am now sure the script writers are read my scripts! This is another thing I wrote… Oh dear I don't wanna see the bad dream that they right for ed

  40. Laura Elizabeth says:

I just got on Skandar's website, and, in the description of the Dawn Treader movie, it says: Along the way they encounter dragons, dwarves, merfolk, and a band of lost warriors. Does anyone remember a 'band of lost warriors'?

  41. Angela says:

Why don't I remember Edmund being in a dungeon in the book?
Granted I read it over ayear ago and have read several novels since then , but still…..

    • Ariel_of_Narnia says:

Well, C.S. Lewis never said anything about a dungeon. He said (after Caspian was bought by Lord Bern) "Then [Ed, Lu, Eu, and Reep] were… taken below [in Pug's slave-ship] into a long, rather dark place, none too clean, where they found many other prisoners…." And he says nothing about them being held on the island prior to being sold.
(In the BBC VDT, they had the to-be slaves climb a ladder into a random hole in the ground, where Pug locked a latticed trapdoor over them.)
So, either Walden/Fox is filming this as part of Pug's ship, or else are giving us an idea of where they may have been held on the island.

  42. what? Edmund was once a wrected sinner that represent us if we repent and put our trust in Jesus. but I don't remember the book saying that Edmund is filly, bruised and being in another dungeon

    • narniafan4ever says:

Well, it could be that he looks that way after being captured by Pug. Just a thought, though. But yes, I agree with the Edmund was saved by Aslan (a.k.a. Jesus). That is why I love the series so much is because of it's biblical parallel. :))

    • Ariel_of_Narnia says:

**bounces up and down, cheering** Speak it! The truth needs to be spoken, and for speaking it, I commend you HighTrinitythesilentwarrior!
Now just because Ed is now saved (per se), doesn't mean that he won't end up being beaten up and tossed into a dungeon. (After all, look at what's happening to so many others like him around the world!) Plus, not necessarily /everything/ in Narnia means something (although there /are/ a ton of parallels).
And C.S. Lewis never /said/ anything about that. (Look up at my comment to Angela.) It may have happened, it may have not. (That's one thing I like about C.S. Lewis: he left so much half-told, allowing for active imaginations to fill in any blanks.) But with movies… well, that's not really possible so far as I know. This is /their/ interpretation.
Keep speaking up for Christ, HighTrinitythesilentwarrior!

      • narniafan4ever says:

yeah, I totally agree with you, sister! πŸ™‚ And don't think that I meant that /everything/ in the Narnia series has a biblical parallel, cause it doesn't. But, I just think it is so neat how there are a few parallels in it. I have to say my favorite parallel other than the part where Ed is saved by Aslan is the fact that Lucy seems to represent that child-like faith that we as Christians need to have. πŸ™‚ And because of that child-like faith, she sees Aslan the most. Kind of like us; we need to have that faith in order to see His work in our lives… πŸ™‚
Don't you just love it when you meet fellow bro's and sis's in Christ? πŸ™‚

      • narniafan4ever says:

btw….you are a sister, right? I just realized that you might be a guy….oops. πŸ™‚ So, I'm really sorry if you are a guy…..I guess I just assumed you were a sis by your screen name. πŸ™‚

      • Starlily says:

Yeah, it's amazing how many Biblical parallels and lessons C.S. Lewis put in the Narnia books, when you look for them. My favorite is when Eustace is "washed clean" by Aslan. You can't miss the spiritual application there.

      • narniafan4ever says:

Yeah, I forgot about that one. I love that one, too! It is so awesome. I wonder how they are going to incorporate that into the movie. I hope they don't botch it and take away that beautiful moment. πŸ™‚

      • WillMosleyandSkandarcrush! says:

AMEN!!! Preach it, sister(or brother:) It doesn't matter if he's bruised or not, HighTrinitythesilentwarrior. As long as he's with Pug, I'm ok. And the reason it wasn't in the book was because CS.Lewis focused on Caspian and Bern and did nothing with Pug and the pevs and Eustace except say Caspian found them. So, they sort of HAVE to make that part up. And I think Edmund bruised up is a good sign. And by the way, good comment, Ariel of Narnia.
        For Narnia and for ASLAN!!!

  43. King Skandar the Just says:

yeah it must be during when Pug has them captured.
Well don't worry you'll be out soon and on your way! Keep sailing onward Dawn Treader!

  44. Sandra says:

    Dungeon. Hmmm!

  45. K. J. Hill says:

    πŸ™‚ Sounds like fun!

  46. heeey says:

    they are messing it up!

  47. celtic13β™₯ says:

I hoope they are refering to Pug's slave ship. Or they may not mean a literal dungeon. They may be joking about the filming being like being in a dungeon. Maybe…???
