New ‘Dawn Treader’ Trailer Online

The DVD release of “Diary of a Wimpy Kid” includes a short new trailer for “The Voyage of the Dawn Treader.” You can now watch a low-quality version of it on YouTube. The video is very poor, but the audio is excellent. Watch it below:

UPDATE: NarniaFans has posted a better-quality version (the aspect ratio is a bit off, making everything look tall and stretched, but the color looks much better):

And, here are good-quality screen captures of the new/updated shots:

  2. Doug says:

It's a little early to start criticizing the acting at this point, don't you think? Georgie doesn't even speak any lines in this trailer!

  3. Last King of Narnia says:

I believe the "lost souls" Caspian is referring to are the seven "lost" lords.
    ~Further up and Further in~

  4. narnian1 says:

I also am assuming the "lost souls" are the "seven lords"
it only makes sense, to me at least.

  5. Ranger says:

The star girl… she glows like Galadriel 😛

  6. master tumnas says:

Yes I've just watched your analysis on the first trailer. Very good indeed!
Pleeease do another on this trailer!

  7. master tumnas says:

Why, in both trailers, do they have the scene when Lucy s on Coriakin's house and there is snow falling everywhere?

    not my favorite.

  8. Lamppostshines! says:

this is WAYYY better than the 1st trailer. sooo much better. like actually. ^^

  9. Watziznehm says:

Aha! The four pevensies ARE in Narnia! Unless, perhaps, those four chairs in the back round are not the four thrones as I suspect!

  10. Talvi says:

okay, have to say I've probably watched both trailers at least 20 times by now. xD and though I love Narnia, both trailers feel choppy, and the CGI leaves something to be desired, 'specially that one scene with Aslan in the mirror. He looks like a puppet! D: I really wish they showed a bit of plot, instead of just random scenes plopped together. Someone not familiar with the Narnia franchise would watch this and could easily say, "What in the world is that movie about?? @_@" (Which, incidentally, is what my brother said…) But anyways. I'm glad at least I have something to watch, and more to speculate on, lol. But my biggest complaint… I seem to be in the minority here, but good gosh I want Harry Gregson-Williams back!!!!!!!!!!! :'( In both trailers the music was okay to me, but it just wasn't Narnia. :'(

  11. andy says:

Overall, the editing of this trailer seems really disjointed. And strange selections for what shots got the most attention. All the clips of Lucy gaping at snow, and waving to mermaids and such… these are getting really old. Each successive trailer is supposed to *build* expectation, but this almost looks like a fan-made remix of the first trailer. Give us more, more!

  12. andy says:

I'm with you on this one, Talvi. I'm hoping this chapter does justice to the Chronicles but I'm anxious.

  13. Aslan's Meadow says:

I don't think they are done with CGI yet, I sure it will look WAY better in the movie.

  14. narnian resident says:

    thrones. 🙂

  15. narnian resident says:

i personally think thats going to be a favored scene among the others when the movies comes out. its such a sweet, personal touch, and causes the audience (at least with me) to have our minds flutter back to the first film when sweet little Lucy discovers Narnia. she has the same face. i just love that. although she's grown up so much, there is still the Lucy we all know in her 😀

  16. narnian resident says:

    movie i mean

  17. narnian resident says:

well first of all, the music in the trailers are not from David Arnold. he's still working on the music. this music is from somewhere else.
however i do agree that im nervous about the music now that Harry's gone. fingers crossed for outstanding music!
but i personally think this music in this trailer is amazing! it sounds so awesome! im wishing now they had used this music in the main trailer instead.

  18. narnian resident says:

i agree. and it seemed to me that it focused ALL on Lucy. not saying anything against that, i adore her! but there was not a single shot of Edmund or Eustace, and yay Caspian has a line we still dont see his face. whats bothering me is that they seem to have plenty of shots of the pevensies, and even individual headshots of Susan and Peter (who are not in this story!) and absolutely nothing of the new character, Eustace. even in the other trailer, hardly anything of him. i was hoping to see alot of him. usually you would think a new character would get more attention, but now that i think of it, i suppose its just logical to focus on Edmund and Lucy, especially Lucy, since this is their last time in Narnia. you know, i may be right, cuz i remember how in PC Peter and Susan got alot of attention, and it almost felt like the younger two were hardly part of it.

  19. narnian resident says:

actually, i think this story is more about Lucy and Edmund, and especially Lucy. this is their last time in Narnia, and remembering the book they had more of a significance to the story. im not saying Eustace isnt important, he's very important to the story, and Caspian. but, the Silver Chair is Eustace's story. i dont mind that the Pevensies are getting the glory, but yes i would like to see more of Eustace, especially when he's a new character and all us crazy fans want to sum him up and see how he is doing 🙂

  20. A_Narnian_Ship says:

I know what the book is about, and I'm STILL wondering what the movie is gonna be about!

  21. A_Narnian_Ship says:

Does it seem to anyone that they seem to be "stepping down" in action from PC? I watched the PC trailer and there seemed a ton more action there. It just seems to be more generated to a younger audience…in fact, if I was not a Narnia fan to begin with, I would dismiss this as a kid's movie and the only way I would have watched it would have been with my little sister.

  22. A_Narnian_Ship says:

yeah I noticed that!! If I wasn't confused then(watching the 1st trailer) I AM NOW!!!

  23. Rolacola says:

I know right, the whole reepicheep bit sounds and looks poo.
'You have a extraordinary destiny, something greater than YOU have ever imagined.' it's like, okay Simon Pegg… you don't need to shout 🙁

  24. FriendOfNarnia2 says:

Well, if they keep putting out trailers, and they keep getting a bit better, by the time the last one comes out, it will be great than you ever imagined! 🙂

  25. Knight of the Lion says:

Wow! I wasn't expecting this when I loged on to Narniaweb.

  26. ztr_rider says:

definitely four thrones. hopefully it's just a flash back. (please be a flash back, please be a flash back.)

  27. ztr_rider says:

It's on the Magician's Island because of the weird plants which we know are on that island from the first trailer. What makes you think it's Lucy going into the door? I don't remember anything like that in the book…

  28. QueenLucy12 says:

    Me Too!!

  29. QueenLucy12 says:

Wow I cant believe that another trailer is out! I LOVE IT!!! I Wish they would Show Eustace and the dragon and Edmund in whatever! Im glad that we finally heard Caspian speak! I wish it was alittle bit longer though!!! Over all Im very happy with the trailer!!!!! 😀

  30. TumnusTheBrave says:

ya i know but i'm talking about her facial expressions

  31. TumnusTheBrave says:

At the end when the show the logo,(at 1:10)i love the backround

  32. Lil th Valiant says:

I always thought since his voice sounds scared that it's something he says in the dark island scene. He trying to be a good King, but he's scared.

  33. Lil th Valiant says:

wasn't there a scene in the book vdt about how to call up a storm? Wind, snow, hail… ?

  34. Lil the Valiant says:

I really really like this tralier. The music is almost cooler than the trailer. I showed to my parents and my dad said "That is too cool."

Even though the mysterious shot of the four Pevensies bothers me, I'm trying to have an unbiased opinion till I see the final product.

  35. Cynical Narnia Fanboy says:

    yeah,hopefully that's just a reference to the seven lords…
and yes, Ben sounds waaaay better

  36. Narniamiss says:

If you look at the still shots above, it looks like it is Lucy because of the outfit the figure is wearing; it looks similar to Lucy's brown vest and blue breeches.

  37. Not Of This World says:

    That's wht I thought!

  38. Not Of This World says:

I think they are the lords.

  39. Mike says:

You should familiarize yourself with the Narnia books – there is little action in VDT the book, and the film will largely follow it.

  40. Lylanarniafan says:

    🙂

  41. i think georgie did the best acting(at least from this trailer) in the first movie- nothing beats that. i still have high hopes for this movie, but i have to say with what happened with prince caspian, i have my doubts.

  42. FriendOfNarnia2 says:

    I agree!

  43. Starlily says:

Maybe Fox doesn't want to scare away kids with some of the darker scenes in VDT. I mean, if they filled the trailer with the Dark Island, Aslan tearing Eustace's skin off, and the sea serpent attacking the boat, people might think it's a scarier movie than it is. (Of course, I wouldn't mind seeing some of those scenes in a trailer. They could be pretty cool) However, I do hope the movie isn't portrayed as too kiddie either. It's supposed to attract people from all age groups, with things for adults as well as children (at least, that's what I'm hoping)

Oh, and yeah there's hardly any action in VDT. All the Narnia books are different, and while PC was more of an action movie, this is really an adventure/discovery/character building movie, as the trailer indicates.

  44. musketeer39 says:

Both of the trailers have struck me as shoddy. They're not well put together at all. And while I know that the actual film is most likely of much higher quality, I'm afraid people outside of the Narnia-fan realm won't care to see the movie because of this.

  45. Kotarki says:

Hey, does any one else think that the person saying "you have an extraordinary destiny" may be Ramandu? Or is it Coriakin?

  46. Aravis and Hwin says:

hahaha, yeah! I really did like the trailor though.

  47. Aravis and Hwin says:

    Me three!!! 🙂

  48. Boke_Wyrm says:

Just a nitpick, the 'thingummy' is a bosun's chair. The Dawn Treader's head is to the right this time, so it's the same take flipped horizontally. I don't think it's a sign of sloppiness. More like just saving a few pennies.

  49. DaughterofEve1792 says:

Bahahahahaha!! Thanks Resident! I for seriously drew a blank on how to spell that! I knew it wasn't right, I just couldn't think of how it was supposed to be… =) That happens sometimes. lol

  50. Sir Jack says:

well.. I believe, that there will not be any Ramadu in the movie.. I know that would be horrible, but why else should they have to give Ramadus Daughter a Name? and why else is sere no hint of Ramadu in any piece of advertising? and why else can't we find out, who plays Ramadu??
I hope I'm wrong with my conjecture but I realy am afraid I'm not.

  51. NextJillPole says:

Some people are saying that the thrones (see? I spelled it right! jk) are burned. I find this hard to believe, but if it is it could be a vision for Lucy and Edmund on the Dark Island of their rule being destroyed or forgotten… hmmm………………….. Just a thought

  52. NextJillPole says:

Or it could be the slaves on the island of Galma…. OR the lost lords. OR it could be something really random that its going to make all of us cry in the movie theaters because they changed it…………

  53. NextJillPole says:

I agree, narnia resident. its a nice part that they slipped in and it adds a feeling of, as you said, "Yes, Lucy has grown up, but she is still the Lucy who entered the Wardrobe for the first time."

  54. Lucy says:

I like how Lucy-centered this trailer seemed to be, since she's my favourite character both in the books and in the movies.

  55. DeartHeart says:

i sure hope aslan appears to caspian, but from the looks of it i see him in the boat with lucy, edmond, eustace and reep. I was a little freaked out b/c of all things in the book i am most upset that caspian is in the boat to then end of the world… hes supposed to sail back to narnia.. and marry and have his son so the Silver chair can happen. Ok ok deep breaths, i guess we'll just have to wait and see.

  56. Ariel_of_Narnia says:

NextJillPole, I rather doubt that bit is from the Dark Island. Unless they /drastically/ recoloured the shot for the trailers. (I figure that if something comes from the Dark Island, it's bound to be… I dunno… maybe "darker"??)

  57. Ariel_of_Narnia says:

I agree with you guys on the hope that it refers to the lost lords (or the slight possibility of slaves). I'm really hoping they don't botch this movie….

  58. Ariel_of_Narnia says:

Have you noticed that Aslan gets a physical makeover in each movie? I find it irritating and I figure that since he's the same all the time (I'm talking character-wise and who-he-is-wise), then… he should look the same. All the time. I liked him best in LWW.

  59. Ariel_of_Narnia says:

I kind of liked the shot of the four Pevensies together (depending on how that part plays in the whole scheme of things), but I felt that the individual shots of Peter and Susan were… I don't really want to say "uncalled-for", but maybe more like "way out of place".
