New ‘Dawn Treader’ Trailer Online

The DVD release of “Diary of a Wimpy Kid” includes a short new trailer for “The Voyage of the Dawn Treader.” You can now watch a low-quality version of it on YouTube. The video is very poor, but the audio is excellent. Watch it below:

UPDATE: NarniaFans has posted a better-quality version (the aspect ratio is a bit off, making everything look tall and stretched, but the color looks much better):

And, here are good-quality screen captures of the new/updated shots:

Agreed on both points there, Starlily. (Though I wonder if the part with Aslan ripping off Eustace's dragon-skin will be in there ("it's like peeling off a scab: it hurts like billy-oh! but it's /such/ fun to see it come off" lol).) And I would very much like to see what the sea-serpent looks like. I don't want it too scary, or too "robot-y" (like the dragoned Eustace in BBC), or "not-necessarily-scary-but-a-little-disturbing" (like the sea-serpent in BBC).

  2. Music From The Heart says:

    Hm….Interesting.
Overall, I wouldn't complain. There are always going to be things we wish would be better. But I mean, It made me interested! And I really like the score. Does anyone know if it's still Harry G. Williams? Please say it is!
Two Questions: I quote everyone else, what's with Susan and Peter?!?
And, does anybody else think it's strange that Lucy is about to fire a bow and arrow near the end of the trailer? It's not Susan's is it??

  3. wolfloversk says:

I didn't even see the minotaur. (*Goes back to look again) But Aslan in his scene with Lucy looks much better. The animation is way off on his roar scene though (can anyone say "complete reversal from last trailer?")

  4. DPCari says:

As much as I like Susan and Peter, I am so disappointed that they appear to have come back to Narnia, if only for a few scenes. It doesn't stay true to the book!

  5. humdedum says:

Oh my gosh, the music gave me the chills allllll over. *squees*

  6. jono says:

omg i REALLY don't like this trailer!!! it's horrible! 🙁 it looks nothing like the first two movies! it looks sooooo boring!

  7. Omac the centaur says:

    sweetness! 🙂

  8. Yeah, her facial expressions in the trailers need more work.

  9. Sooo true! lol, except Lilliandil is more like a light or star, whereas Galadriel glows, but is more human or elven.

  10. It's not Harry who's doing it anymore, it's David Arnold who's doing the score. Sorry!

  11. NextJillPole says:

True, Ariel of Narnia. But it was just a thought……… I doubt (hope) that they didn't do what I said they might do in the movie. Because I will cry. Most definitely cry. Like sob my heart out cry. Just saying.

  12. NextJillPole says:

    Agreed

  13. NextJillPole says:

Me too. Especially the scene in the LWW where He's crowning the Pevensies, and He's saying, "And to the Clear, Northern Sky, I give you High King Peter the Magnificent." There's an awesome picture on the internt of Him. That's the most realistic they've made Him. He was HORRIBLE in PC but is upgrading (slightly) in this.

  14. NextJillPole says:

I know! If they take out the theme (you know, the part in LWW in the battle or in PC when their walking to the How) I'm going to be so mad it's not going to be even funny! It DOES sound cool, I'll give them that, but if they take it out……….

  15. NextJillPole says:

Me four! I wonder if there's going to be another one? Fingers crossed but I doubt it…………… But there is always a ray of hope

  16. NextJillPole says:

    Oh I forgot. Me four!!!!

  17. NextJillPole says:

Yeah, his accent SUCKED EPICLY in PC but the Telmarines are kinda Spanish, NOT British. Only a couple of years have passed since the Second Battle of Beruna (also know as the climax aka the battle scene in PC for all you kinda Narnia addicts who know a little bit about Narnia) then how did his accent change so quickly? I know it sucked but his entire PEOPLE had SPANISH accents!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  18. NextJillPole says:

If you look at the still shot of the four Pevensies that Narniaweb has below the videos, William's doing the model walk!!!!!!!!!! Hahahaaaaaaaaaahhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  19. Bookwyrm says:

That's not actual music from the movie, it's just trailer music.

  20. Bookwyrm says:

His accent was faux-Spanish, but the other actors just used their own accents which ranged from Spanish to Italian to Romanian. If the Telmarines all descended from people from the same country, how could they end up speaking English like each had a different native language?

  21. I LOVE THIS!!!!!! I LOVE THE PICTURES!!!!!!

  22. sgk474 says:

I thought PC was great 🙂

  23. Talvi says:

Oh, it's not David Arnold? I feel a *little* bit better then. But as NextJillPole said, I hope they don't do away with the whole theme of narnia! I own both soundtracks and love them to death, to me they're half the magic of the movie. If they get rid of the basic theme that plays in To Aslan's Camp, The battle, and battle at Aslan's how, I'm gonna cry. :'(

  24. Casue says:

Awesome!!!! wow in the scene where all the pevensies are 2gether, it really tells u how short anna is. georgie is almost her height. sheesh..
Also that seen could be a dream sequence…they could have susan dreaming of her time as queen, and a certain telmarine king whom we are all aquainted with *wiggles eyesbrows mischeviously* that could lead to susan not believing in narnia and then the last battle….ay yi yi
aslan looks like a puppet in the mirror scene, yet at the end the cgi is awesome. if fox/walden are not all complete with all of the cgi, they should not release it. also caspian is on the opposite of lucy in the elavator thing. either one of these trailers was shot in a mirror or fox/walden is bein sloppy.
Anyhoo love the trailer. My sister wants to hug reepicheep! She is so like Lucy!!!!

  25. NarniaGirl says:

Georgie is getting really tall. You can tell she's a couple of inches taller than Anna in the clip where all 4 are shown walking together. IMDB lists Georgie's height at 5'-4" but I think she's gonna be 5'-6," at the very least, by the time she stops growing. According to my 5'-11" tall friend who visited the set on the Gold Coast during filming, Georgie stands only slightly shorter than Skandar who's about 5'-8." He said she was about 5'-4"/5'-5" tall. Ironically enough for her character, she's become a lot prettier than Anna as well, if her latest pics are any indication.

Which kind of makes a person have to suspend their disbelief while watching the beauty spell scene at Coriakin's house.

I love the new trailer. I thought it was much better than the first & I didn't have a problem with the fact that it was Lucy-centric. I've always thought Lucy was the heart of Narnia. As someone said previously upthread, I like the shot of all four Pevensies. I don't get why everyone's freaking out, though. These are most likely flashback scenes or the result of someone's dream on the Dark island. Peter & Susan are not major characters on the Dawn Treader & I highly doubt they'd stray that far from the books. That said, I don't like the close-up shot of Susan & Peter shown in both trailers. Some are complaining about too much Lucy, but I'd argue it's Susan & Peter's unnecessary close-ups that are taking away from the Edmund/Caspian/Eustace shots. I was kind of hoping there would be more shots of Edmund & Caspian.

  26. Is it just me, or did u notice that Lucy has a lot of screen time in this trailer, and there isn't even a single good shot of Edmund!

  27. Cynical Narnia Fanboy says:

YEs, absolutely. Her facials were terrible in those shots, i must say. I WANT TO SEE SHOTS OF CASPIAN ANDD DRAGONEUSTACE!!

  28. NarniaNerd says:

Well, I'm definitely confused by some of it (I can't figure out the four Pevensies part). But I love the trailer, especially the music! I wish there was a way to download the music or something.
I think Caspian is talking about the lost lords or about the slaves. And if it's not one of those, I don't think it will be a huge part of the movie.

  29. narnian resident says:

yes, i really, REALLY want to know where they got this music and what its called because i truly have never heard such beautiful trailer music before! it is so deep and powerful, and gives you both chills and warmth at the same time, especially at the beginning with the women's voices, and then the suspensful chiming instrument when Lucy is approaching the book. absolutely love that! oh, and the amazing strings in the more strong parts in the music, beautiful!

  30. Bother Eustace says:

Okay, so I'm on vacation right now away from home: I heard about this trailer, but didn't get a chance to actually see it till now. And I'm astonished. Not necessarily in a good way. :0 That shot of Reep looked terrible… like it wasn't even finished! And of course it mentioned something about 'saving lost souls', I'm not happy with that. But I can't really give a full opinion now, haven't had time to re-watch think it through.

  31. Peepicheep says:

    A very cute stuffed animal!!

  32. Duffleglum says:

yeah flash backs are awesome, and add more depth to the movie.

but I will love this movie either way

  33. Lucy the Valiant says:

    agreed!!!!!!

  34. MP_in_Narnia says:

This trailer is much better than the first, but could still be much better…
And I REALLY hope that Aslan looks better in his "mirror" scene with Lucy when the movie's in theaters… he still looks verrry fake to me there.

  35. MP_in_Narnia says:

But some of those shots are really awesome…especially the magician's library!!! I hope the finished film will be incredibly better than the trailers. 😀

  36. Starlily says:

Yeah, I hope the finished movie is much better-looking. I've noticed that some scenes, when they're taken out of context, don't look as good as they do in the final movie. I hope that's the case here. (And if the movie is really good, I won't care so much about the special effects anyway–although of course the movie-goer and critic will still care a lot.)

  37. elizabeth says:

arent they going have 2 show the dragon & more darker scenes sooner or later though?

  38. nathan says:

I went and rented "Diary of a Wimpy Kid" just to see the Narnia trailer (well, and because me and my roommate were bored) and it's actually a pretty good movie.

  39. aslan1980 says:

Oh no, Simon Pegg is completely awful as Reepicheep's voice. Bring back Bill Nighy.

  40. brandon says:

I totaly agree,he looks li part live action, but also like the mice from Coraline.

  41. Shastafan says:

Hold on, I don't remember hearing Reepicheep's voice at all. The line that goes on when we get a glimpse of him doesn't sound anything like him, although I might be wrong…

  42. Ted C says:

Wow…you're smart, wish I had thought of that.

  43. Ted C says:

    Throne…yeah, that's a hard one to spell.

  44. Ted C says:

Maybe Lu's going to the loo?

  45. Ted C says:

    noo, its more like totally.

  46. Shastafan says:

It's not just you. While the first trailer focused on both Edmund and Lucy, this trailer is mainly pointed at Lucy. We get little sight of Edmund, Eustace appears very shortly in the sea of lillies, and Caspian is the only one besides Aslan to say any lines. Yet again, we'll have to wait for another trailer with more footage of them! 😉

  47. NarniaNerd says:

Uhhh, to me it sounds like he's whispering.

  48. NarniaNerd says:

    Reep talks too.
Caspian had hardly any screen time in the first trailer either.

  49. NarniaNerd says:

    Yes, yes, yes! Lovely.
    I really like this trailer.

  50. NarniaNerd says:

Uhhh…the thing about Susan seems highly unlikely. No offense.

  51. NarniaNerd says:

I don't think they REALLY come back to Narnia. They are in the movie, but we're not sure if they go to Narnia.

  52. NarniaNerd says:

Yeah, she's got Susan's bow and arrows. No clue what the heck she's doing with them, but it doesn't bother me. Lucy is an archer queen, too, after all.

  53. NarniaNerd says:

Oh, bother, bother, bother! Wouldn't that be rum luck?!?!?! 🙁

  54. NarniaNerd says:

Yeah, me too. I don't want to panic about it – waste time freaking out about stuff. I don't think Lewis would have wanted us to. Freak out, I mean.

  55. NarniaNerd says:

I'm pretty sure they won't. Arnold should be weaving the main themes into some new stuff. It'll be cool! Don't worry. 🙂

  56. Bookwyrm says:

You don't even know if that was Simon Pegg and you're saying he's awful? Um, a little hasty there? Besides, we've never heard Bill Nighy as Reep, so you have no clue what his take on the character would have been.

  57. aravis tarkeena says:

Yes, when he says "Think of Narnia" he does seem a bit scared.

  58. aravis tarkeena says:

I completely agree. This seems like recycled shots of Lucy and nothing of anyone else. Instead of focusing on the main characters, they focus on Coriaken,RD,and the Pevevsies! Something is also really wrong with Reeps voice. But at least it is a bit more footage, even if a non Narnia fan would go Huh.

  59. aslan1980 says:

When you see Reepicheep thats Simon Pegg trying to do Reepicheep's voice and yes it sounds nothing like the Prince Caspian version. It sounds dreadful.

  60. aslan1980 says:

On the first trailer Bill Nighy voices the exact same line as Reepicheep and it sounds 100 times better than the voice Simon Pegg has arrived at. A few of the casting decisions in the Narnia films have been pretty bad but this one is the worst of all.
