Silver Chair or Magician’s Nephew?
In a recent interview with the Examiner, Mark Johnson discussed the next film:
I know you get asked this question a lot, but I’ll ask anyway: Will there be a fourth “Narnia” movie?
Johnson: Keep in mind that the two youngest Penvensie kids, Lucy and Edmund, don’t come back, so the next movie will have Eustace. We could do “The Silver Chair” or we could do “The Magician’s Nephew.”
Which book do you think fans want to see more as the fourth “Narnia” movie: “The Silver Chair” or “The Magician’s Nephew”?
Johnson: That’s a really good question. I couldn’t tell you. We should put it to the fans [to decide]. I know we have to do “The Magician’s Nephew.” I love that book! The question is: “Do we do it now and let our Eustace grow older? Or do we do ‘The Silver Chair’ and then do ‘The Magician’s Nephew’?”

I'm excited about TMN too, but I think TSC should be done first so that we finish out the Scrubb storyline. After that, I'd like to see TMN, then HHB and finally TLB.

Looks like this vote has been won by a landslide: SILVER CHAIR. I love, love, love, Magician's Nephew – but we need to finish off Eustace's story first. (Plus, Will P. would be too old if we put SC of any longer. In my own opinion at least.)
The Silver Chair. Although I really want to see so the Magician's Nephew made, for continuity's sake they should make the Silver Chair. In the book the Silver Chair takes place barely a year after the Voyage of the Dawn Treader. So Eustace would look too old if they put another movie in between the 2.

I already took a vote on the poll and I said "The Silver Chair" should be next to film. I believe this because for one, it is the next movie and book in order of the series and second, it would throw ALOT of people off if "The Magicians Nephew" was filmed next because that takes you WAY BACK to the very beginning of how Narnia was created and such. Also I noticed there was MANY more votes for "The Silver Chair" to be filmed next. So in my honor, "The Silver Chair" should be next after "Voyage of the Dawn Treader".
I agree with everyone else – they HAVE to do "The Silver Chair" first! After all, Eustace isn't even in "The Magician's Nephew", and, if they wait, Will Poulter will be far too old. I agree with the order someone listed above: SC, HHB, MN, LB.
Eep! Well, we kinda need to Eustace to be about the right age and since it's been going in publication order so far, I'd say the Silver Chair. Helps that SC is what introduced me to Narnia 19 years ago… In the same breath, if there's any chance Magician's Nephew won't get done unless it's done next, totally Magician's Nephew. I've been waiting almost 20 years to see it done!!! It's my favorite!!!
I voted SC (my favorite book!), but I could see MN making more sense commercially. SC contains so many elements of VDT (similar enchanting witch, journey to fulfill signs, fantastical lands underground) that the general audience will probably see it as a recap and the resulting box office dud might kill the franchise. The Magician's Nephew contains a flying horse, traveling between universes, a good bit of entertainment in London to balance out the spooky Charn sets, and in general enough elements already in place to make for a box office hit.
As much as I'd like to see MN made, because the BBC films didn't get that far…
It would make the most sense to go with Silver Chair next. It's better for continuity's sake, and we don't want Will Poulter to get too old. So, I guess basically just what everyone else has already said. But yes, I'd love to see all seven made into films eventually!
SC is the logical sequel to VDT. It takes place less than a year after, and features a character we know (Eustace).

Honestly, if they do MN next, they won't want to come back to do SC, and plus Will Poulter will be far too old to play Eustace, and re-castings are annoying! 🙂
I believe that the smartest thing to do would be this- MN, SC, HHB, LB. This way Will Poulter/ Eustace will age more evenly, since its best to do LB last. If they do SC first there will be a big gap between in and LB and He will likely age significantly betweenhand. If they do HHB (as much as I hate to say this since its my favorite) next I don't think Georgie will be old enough to play her part.

Well, they never actually use the rings in TLB, but it being the end of Narnia- that is clearly why it should be left for last. Also, Polly shows up in the final book, and even Digory needs to be explained further- (it was only hinted at in LWW). Without MN first, it wouldn't have the significant impact it should.

Gotta keep the Eustace actor young enough. Must do Silver Chair next or cast a different actor for Eustace when they get around to SC after MN. Unless they do MN and don't bother doing the rest of the series at all.
It will/should probably be SC, MN, LB … HHB might get skipped over entirely if they're looking for box office $$$.
Don't get me wrong I love HHB but I can see the cold-hearted Hollywood types not seeing enough return on investment in that story.
