New Clip: Dragon Attack!

YahooMovies has a new exclusive clip of a dragon “attacking” the Dawn Treader.

What’s really fun is thinking back to a little over a year ago when we were sent video of them filming this scene! If you weren’t around then, you can see our coverage on it here and here.

Thanks to aragorn2 and emijoy for the heads up!

It's looking fantastic. Top notch CGI

  5. Ballerina says:

Um, the dragon looks a little cheap… πŸ™

  6. Sugar Mouse says:

My first thought, when I saw the dragon:
    MERLIN

  7. FriendOfNarnia2 says:

    Aww! Poor Eustace!

  8. that was SO SO SO epic! amazing! love it!

  9. Pepper Darcy says:

WOW! Wonderful! That's awesome CG! I can't wait! Lucy's acting has really improved… I mean, like a LOT. She looked seriously scared and all! πŸ™‚ Love it!:) Just a few more days! Oh! Can't wait!

  10. Bethany Weathers says:

Yay for another Merlin fan! I agree. I kept waiting for him to say, "Kill the witch, young warlock…" lol

  11. FriendOfNarnia2 says:

I honestly was too wrapped up in the scene to care if the dragon looked real or not. This looks like it will be a very fun movie!

  12. Shastafan says:

Ack! Of course a new, cool-sounding clip comes online after I vowed to watch no more clips til I see the movie! Oh, the agony of it all! MUST NOT WATCH CLIP UNTIL AFTER MOVIE! Somebody, HELP! 8(

  13. Samuel the Magnificent says:

I'm hoping it's just the bad quality of the video.

  14. Louloudi the Centaur says:

Reepicheep, don't attempt single handed combat with the dragon. What did they tell you, noble mouse?

  15. Trufflehunter says:

Looks amazing! Can't wait to see it on the big screen!

  16. Brisa says:

i saw this on YM…. i think it's the first time I've ever seen a spoiler before it was on NW….

  17. Aragorn2 says:

I really like this way of introducing the dragon but a few of the shots look pretty poor, namely the shot where he is flying a breathes fire, that looks really, really bad :(.
I hope it is just unfinished

  18. martin the warrior says:

stupid CG the dragon looks terrible i know people that do media stuff that aren't even professional that could do better then that.

  19. emijoy says:

Did I hear an airplane sound?

  20. NARNIAGIRL says:

I enjoyed that clip! CGI was okay but i love how they introduce Eustace as a dragon. Can't wait to see the movie πŸ˜€

  21. Pepper Darcy says:

help? Tell us how to help, help help! ( walks off feeling like a talking Narnia dog)

  22. ooh, I bet Lucy looked so afraid at the very end when she watches the Dragon fly away because she knows Caspian and Edmund are on the island! πŸ˜€

  23. Queen C The Gentle says:

    Isn't that dragon Eustace?

  24. Sui-Lun says:

But then, Gael beside Lucy looks like… acting, because (in the beginning) she looks scared, so she flings herself off the handle and yells at Drainian. Then Dranian looks so shocked and speechless, and suddenly trying to ease into yelling, and suddenly yelling for people to shoot… something doesn't seem too right to me…

  25. Queen Su says:

Must not watch…33 hours to go until the midnight showing!!

  26. Chrissy says:

The quality of this scene is really low…the CGI looks fake and the cinematography is poor. The camera is out of focus….doesn't seem to be telling a story. I feel like I'm watching a really low budget movie.
I still have better hopes for the overall movie, but I really don't like this scene….just looks sloppy and not too artistic. OK, maybe I'm being too harsh…..but this scene just isn't moving me at all.

  27. Griffle says:

I think it looks good, great even. You have to take into account that the scene takes place in bright sunlight, which is the lighting condition under which it's hardest to make CGI effects look convincing. This looks really good.

  28. Aragorn2 says:

    Yes it is

  29. Michael says:

The dragon does look a bit cartoonish but the way they display the scene is pretty good. CGI will never be perfect. So overall I say it's pretty good.

  30. Cynical Narnia Fanboy says:

yeah, that was my thought as well…I wonder is this the Lord dragon or DragonEustace??????

  31. wolfloversk says:

I second this, and although the skin may not seem as real, the blending was better than both LWW and Dragons: A Fantasy Made Real- so I'm not complaining.

  32. wolfloversk says:

Well compared to the other two VDT has a really low budget, infact it's amazing that the other shots look so real. Also there was a change in the types of cameras they used.

  33. Cynical Narnia Fanboy says:

You going at midnight?? Or Friday night?

  34. stateofgreen says:

Speculating what might happen…..think the dragon is Eustace and maybe it's another way of breaking the mast since maybe there isn't a storm later to do it?

  35. The Queen of Narnia says:

I know Eustace was just turned into a dragon and i would be mad too but why is he trying to kill everbody……
    CGI Really Bad

  36. NarnianHarper says:

Ha ha, clumsy Eustace breaks the mast, not the storm. That's great!

  37. narnian resident says:

ok, that stupid chopping up in the video makes it hard to watch.
anyway though, i think the dragon looks great. its just that very first shot of him flying….could be better. but i love it. cant wait to see it (in better quality anyway! Yahoomovies videos are always so choppy and messed up!)

  38. Aragorn2 says:

He isn't trying to kill everybody, He is just trying to get help, he obviously didn't think very far ahead about what they would do if a dragon came at them.

  39. narnian resident says:

i love that Lucy is protecting Gael. very precious. makes me remember how she was always protected by her older siblings, and now its like she's got a little sister to look after πŸ™‚

  40. Starlily says:

Poor Eustace got nailed by an arrow AND Reepicheep! Poor fella! The CGI isn't top-notch in some places, I guess, but it doesn't bother me much. It could be worse. And I don't really mind the deviation from the book–I guess this works better on screen. It's only taking it a little farther than in the book. Oh, and I like Drinian. πŸ™‚

  41. DanielmyBrother says:

Did you notice the arm band?

  42. Adeona says:

I will stand with you Shastafan! Together, we will defeat the spoilers! πŸ˜€
    Must Not Watch…

  43. RumbbleBuffinTheStrong says:

Hey, this is unrelated to the story, but where can I buy VTD posters? I really want some for Christmas.

  44. Shastafan says:

By the way, Narnia Faith, on the "Narnia Night" page, has some clips as well! I only watched one of them (me and my spoiler diet), but it appears they have more updated shots and such. The first one is a more updated and extended clip of the transition of Narnia, the second shows the Eustace and Reep duel, the third is apparently when Dragon Eustace reveals to the crew who he is, and the fourth appears to be the scene of the sea of the lillies.

What do you guys think? πŸ˜‰

  45. VFK says:

Okay, I think this is the old dragon. I think that's how it

    *SPOILER* died *end spoiler*

    ~VFK~

  46. Ah, Eustace doesn't seem to be too smart in this scene. I wonder what's supposed to be going through his mind? Hard not to feel sorry for the little jerk though.

I like the bat-like wings they've given him. It makes him look more unique. But, yeah, the CGI could use some cleaning up.

  47. LOL OMG I WAS THINKING THE SAME THING!!!!! About a year ago was when I joined Narniaweb, and I clearly remember how excited I was watching the filming! Though I'm not going to watch this scene until after the movie (but that picture is enough to scare the s**t out of me). πŸ˜€ I remember when I read the release date I was all like "OMG I haven't even started 6th grade yet and this movie is gonna come out when I'm in 7th!!!". Now, here I am. Just the day after tomorrow…

  48. Pepper Darcy says:

we're going Saturday because it's my birthday Sat πŸ™‚

  49. Pepper Darcy says:

I would so *love* to go at Midnight! Just once though πŸ™‚

  50. Pepper Darcy says:

yeah! that's right, because he hadn't read the right sort of books! πŸ™‚

  51. Pepper Darcy says:

Amazon.com put in Voyage of the Dawn Treader Posters πŸ™‚ They have a few πŸ™‚ at least, last I looked (yesterday) I've been haunting that part of Amazon, watching to see if they update their VotDT posters πŸ™‚

  52. JProctor says:

ew. lucky. They don't have any midnight showing in my area. πŸ™

  53. stateofgreen says:

Well it does "look" like he's trying to kill everyone, but maybe he's a bit disoriented?….he broke the mast, guessing he'll fix it later by bringing that big tree later like he did in the book. 'course, this looks like another change I might not like.

  54. Fire Fairy says:

It's Eustace. You can see the gold band around his foreleg.

  55. Fire Fairy says:

I think it looks amazing as well. I mean, yeah, it might look "cartoonish", but then again, some people complained that the River God in PC looked cartoonish. I think they did a fabulous job, and gave DragonEustace a face that is capable of a lot of emotion and character.

  56. Pepper Darcy says:

When are you going to see it? (you'll end up telling me you've already seen it πŸ˜‰

  57. RumbbleBuffinTheStrong says:

Thanks! Now to tell my family what to order for me for Christmas..

  58. Fire Fairy says:

Then why is he wearing an armband?? It's definitely Eustace.

  59. stateofgreen says:

One has to register in order to download the ZIP files, so I'm not bothering with it. It looks like it's mainly for pastors and church educators.
