You know, (even though I think this is no way going to happen. loljkjk!) if we all just waited a little longer after the dvd and bly-ray come out, it will be cheaper. So you wouldn't have to pay so dang much! Haha, but how will that happen? We all can not wait for this DVD!

  13. reepicheep's_fangirl says:

lol, yeah. whomever designed the cover art found on Amazon seriously needs to get their act together, no Eustace, incomplete-looking Dawn Treader sail, and Reepicheep standing in front of the Treader in the roaring waves with a bubble that says "the perfect easter basket gift"? (although, i must agree with that statement! 😉 ) a bit saddening, in my opinion. I love love LOVE the cover art for the one up top, though! georgeous!

  19. Princess Jennifer says:

Has anyone heard of the "Choose your own adventure " books ? I LOVE them !! I think they should make a narnia one !! That would be so cool. Maybe I will write it. I think that would be cool. Choose your own adventure in Narnia……..

  20. Would you be able to post Walden and Fox's email adresses so that more of us can join in the initiative? If lots of us emailed them, it would probably get the message to them more urgently than just one person. 😀

  22. Savber100 says:

To be honest… it's an awful DVD cover and easily reflects the way Fox sees Narnia as. A cheap cash-in appealing only to rabid fans and families with little children. Look at the DVD cover for the two-disk edition. They used an incomplete picture of the Dawn Treader which still has the mast containing the rigging, they excluded Eustace in the cover and Caspian in BOTH covers, and photoshopped Reepicheep from the PC posters. Even Twilight fans had better treatment than this, and yet we still act as if it's nothing and that 'it can be worse'
Before, anyone start to complain how I'm nitpicking, I will remind you all that you're only playing into the studio's hands. Excuses like "It could be worse" do nothing for the studio to change. Keep gobbling up everything the studio throws at you and it'll only get worse as they'll see how easy it is to please fans (e.g. Twilight)and find little reason to improve. And if I'm "too negative", there's a hundred of other posts here that just gush about the dvd cover so no need to freak out that someone disagrees with the consensus. 😉

  23. Princess Jennifer says:

Why does everyone keep saying that ?! I think it looks fine, and People will be watching the movie, not the cover !! I honestly think it looks good and can't see any of yoour points in reality. It looks beautiful to me. The colors are vibrant, the cover speaks of adventure, What would you put on the cover ?

  24. Lucy says:

I have no intention of "gushing" over the dvd cover as you put it, nor of even making a big point of disagreeing with you (though I confess I very much do). Only, I wish to be permited to say this, if I spoke with as much over the top passion as you have in favor of the dvd cover as you have in disfavor of it (and I admit I have spoken passionately of how much I enjoy the narnia movies so I am not coming down on you for a fault that is equally my own but in reverse, rest assured), I would have a million hate replies telling me to tone it down. I have no problems with you or anyone else stating their opinons, but I think it most unfair that your sort are ready to come down on anyone who disagrees with you with "don't you say it could be worse" and a million other similar statements, but they, in turn are not allowed to say, I think you are wrong; I liked the cover, and that doesn't mean I am cowering down to a studio, I honestly liked it. Just think about that, won't you?

  25. Lucy says:

I agree with you. You have said, in a short post, what I took forever to write out (claps proudly). Thank you!

  26. Talvi says:

Sent an email as well…I loved the commentary and was really looking forward to it! and I'm going to send letters to both of them. There are some things I really need to say – maybe a snail mail letter will attract their attention a bit more than an email.

  27. Princess Jennifer says:

Thank you for your support !!=] Finally, someone who has a brain that can think !!! I totally agree with all that you said !! I think that they look lovely. I llike all of them to be truthful !! What do you think ?

  28. Talvi says:

I agree with you, Savber. The amount of effort Fox put into the marketing and displaying of this movie was, for the most part, absolutely pitiful. (Please keep in mind this is just my opinion!)
This movie had so much wasted potential it just made me want to cry… and the covers, though marginally better than the sloppy and dull ones we got originally, are still poorly done. (I loved the snowy – or starry, as I have heard some say – Aslan poster, though.)
Example, though – does anybody own one of the books they released with the blue cover with all the characters on it? Really look at it. Look closely at Lucy, Ed, and Eustace…. and you'll see just how sloppy the photoshopping job really was. I felt embarrassed for them to release such an unfinished piece for sale.
But that's beside the point… Anyways, my issue with the DVD color is the odd, stilted look of the sail – why does the 'N' not continue over on the other side, and why is there metal rigging still left there? Also – where is Caspian?? You know, King Caspian, one of the main stars of the movie? WHY IS THE WHITE WITCH THERE INSTEAD? She hardly constitutes as a main character! Reepicheep looks like he was just plastered on as an after thought – and that image with Edmund is STILL badly photoshopped!! Would it have taken that much more effort for Ed to take one quick promo shoot with him ACTUALLY holding the Rhindon, instead of just photoshopping it in afterwards? I could be wrong on this (The sword being photoshopped in, I mean), but I really doubt it. I've seen that sword flipped as well in other promo shots, with no other difference in image. He's not actually holding it! And they just left that for the final images?? Did Fox actually care about this movie AT ALL?
I can be quite vehement when it comes to disappointments, and I'm sorry if I seem harsh. But it's my opinion, and I'm standing by it. I wanted – so much – to like this movie. I don't think there's another movie I've ever looked forward to more. And I was let down in a spectacular way with a movie that seemed choppy, flat, and unfinished. :'(
I don't want to start anything with this, I really don't – I just thought I should speak up, since for once my opinion is different from the majority. This comment is not directed at anyone specifically, with the exception of Savber because I agreed with some of his/her points. I just wanted to put in my two cents.

  29. Princess Jennifer says:

Uh,!! It is amazing !! What would you put on the cover ?! I think it looks fine !!

  30. Talvi says:

I thought I was fairly clear on that point… First off, Caspian somewhere please!! And no White Witch if at all possible. A different image of the Dawn Treader, preferably one WITHOUT the scaffolding and poles, and with a completed sail. Reepicheep more integrated in the cover, instead of just dropped on there. A different image for Edmund. Eustace perhaps with a bit more prominence, in either of his forms…?
That's just my opinion. I have mine, you have yours, and I'm not putting you down for it. But there you go. *shrugs*

  31. Princess Jennifer says:

I LOVE Reepicheep so he is ok. The Dawn Treader is fine, Edmund is great, and the others are ok. I don't understand why you say this !!

  32. Princess Jennifer says:

    *Shrugs*

  33. Talvi says:

Princess Jennifer – I'm talking about their images here! Not their characters. Reep is one of my favorite characters, just to make it clear here, okay? My post was not a personal attack towards you. I just dislike the poster and the sloppy, unfinished feel of it. If you want reasons WHY, read my above posts, please. I've stated the reasons why I said what I did… several times. >.>
We're just going to have to agree to disagree on this one, because I'm not about to change my opinion.

  34. I loved the first two covers, but as for the third cover… I completely agree with you, Talvi. I /really/ hope they don't release the picture of the Dawn Treader with the unfinished sail and scaffolding still there. It's really rather embarrassing! If it were a special DVD that went into detail about CGI and special effects and all that, I may not have minded, but this is just unproffesional.
I liked the movie a lot, but this poster is not reflective of the movie, and I am rather disappointed

  35. Lucy says:

Nah, i agree with Princess Jennifer. I really like the cover. The colours are pretty and I like the placement of Reepicheep. You can all give me negative replies saying I'm cowering down to a studio if you like, I don't care if you want to waste your time snapping at me or not. I simply really like VDT/narnia, and though I do find it ODD that Caspian is not on the cover, I do not find it the end of the world like you all seem to. (oh, and FYI? I've seen several book NON-MOVIE covers where Pauline baynes pictures of Edmund, Lucy, and Eustace and the dawn treader were on the cover and Caspian wasn't. So um, maybe that's where the studio got their idea. Don't know where the witch came from, just a marketing thing I suppose, but it's not THAT BAD, unless you have a mentally abusive stepmother and father who refuse to let you watch anything that even looks remotely like a ghost even if you tell them its not and they saw it…but as I don't live with those awful people no more, I don't care. I'm not watching the cover anyway, beautiful as it is-love the purple!-I'm watching da movie!)

  36. Princess Jennifer says:

Fine, we agree to disagree. I still stand where boundries are though, and you may stay on yours. In truth, I found the Dawn Treader to be wonderful and Eustace and Caspian where not there for a reason. I do not think it looks sloppy at all, but that is your opinion, this is mine.

  37. Princess Jennifer says:

To Lucy : I thank you my dear, wonderful, friend for agreeing with me, and seeing how the cover looks fine. I am truly touched by your loyal following. You truly would be, a queen of Narnia.

  38. Princess Jennifer says:

To Lucy : Thank you for clearly seeing that the covers are ok. I thank you for all that you say, and all of your comments. You and other's comments I find so fond of reading. I Thank you once again, for seeing that the cover is good, and there is not a problem with it. You truly would be, Queen Lucy the Valiant.

  39. Not Of This World says:

I like the Steelers to win the Super Bowl and to win when they were in the playoffs, but they aren't my favorite team. I don't have a favorite NFL team. But I'm a die-hard USC Trojans fan (My family is probobly the only people who have a USC Trojans mail-box in the entire Northwest). And the Steelers have Troy Polamolu on their team (He not only went to USC, but he's s Christian too 🙂 ). I also want the packers too do well deffencivly because they have Clay Matthews, who also went to USC. This is what I want the final score and states to be:

Pittsburg: 28 (4 Int returns for Touchdowns by Polamolu)

Green Bay: 21 (3 Int returns for Touchdowns by Matthews)

I always choose NFL teams by how many ex Trojans are on the team. 🙂 Fight On!

  40. Savber100 says:

    *glances up and down*
Both sides have passionate views on whether the movie is good or bad. Lucy, in my other post, I asked you to tone down with the caps and the namecalling. I will point out that calling boycotters "horrible spoiled brats" and "haters" don't get you anywhere and really diminish your position. They are simply expressing their disapproval of the film through an appropriate action and has every right to express it in anyway as long as it does not harm another individual. I have no problem with your opinion just the way you presented your views. Also, I never cracked down on the opposing side who SIMPLY expressed an opinion. Do I hate someone for having a differing opinion? No. Do I start calling someone a hater for disagreeing? No. Instead, all I did was refute what several fans have been saying about "how it could be worse" and commented why excuses like that does NOT help the film industry or the franchise.
You like the cover? Great. I don't and give it a passing C- due to the reasons originally stated. The cover just seem lazy. Pretty colors aren't everything after all. That said… am I "brainless" or "moronic" if I believe boycotting tells the studio that they need to do a better job? 😉

  41. Lucy says:

No need to harp on everything I say, just because I don't agree with a smelly boycott. I simply believe that boycotting a movie over a COVER or a commentary is silly BECAUSE not so long ago, we were all upset when Disney backed out and we weren't sure if the movie would be made AT ALL, when so many of us were looking so very forward to it. Now it's out and we're all going to whine about minor details? Then changed one word in Aslan's line, I'm so upset…they put Reepicheep in the wrong place on the cover…the world is ending…the studio is trying to treat us badly on purpose…let's all not buy it just to teach them a lesson. (coughs into palm and raises eyebrows high)…hmm, yes, I'm sure that's the course of reason…not…

(Oh, because you don't seen to realize it, and perhaps it is my own fault for not saying anything sooner, I don't mean to use the caps for SHOUTING but rather for EMPHASIS on a certian word(s). See, I'm a writer, and I'm used to having Itallics when I need to empasise something, unforunately, there aren't itallics here so i have to use the caps. No disrespect intended, my friends)

  42. Princess Jennifer says:

I have to agree with Lucy. She was not namecalling. And even if she was, you don't need to be like a watchdog about it. I agree that it is a little wrecked, but it looks fine mostly !! I think that we should be grateful that we have a cover. If you want to make a fuss over it, check out the Narnia people's address and tell them what you think. Otherwise, we should stop.

  43. Princess Jennifer says:

And fight them they will !!! I'm sure !!!! Happy Superbowl !!

  44. Not Of This World says:

Happy Super bowl to you too! Fight on is what USC fans say.

  45. Princess Jennifer says:

Alright !! Fight on !!! Go USC !!!

  46. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RoOhT8ARvag&feature=related
Has anyone seen these yet? Parts two and three are somewhere there too. They have a lot of shots I haven't seen online.

  47. Mina says:

I wonder what part these shots were for: (going by Georgie's costumes) 2:28 and 4:24. Deleted scenes maybe? The second one looks like their playing a game. (Georgie's swinging the mallet, hammer, etc…)

  48. Talvi says:

Lucy, I don't understand. Why do you complain about him 'harping on everything you said', then turn right back around and call his (or her) idea 'smelly' within the same sentence? Do unto others…?
And, (At least for me – I'm by no means speaking for anyone else with this) it was not MINOR details within the movie. It was the entire whole that was flawed, not a line!! For me, the sub-par cover art was the straw that broke the camel's back, so to speak. If the movie had been great, I wouldn't care about the cover and just buy it anyways. But for them to release a sub-par movie (if anyone even begins to think I'm just saying that, please read my other posts – I'm quite clear on just exactly why I didn't like the movie, and how much I really *wanted* to like it!) and then release an equally sub-par poster. According to the current list of bonus features, we won't even have the apparent 30 minutes of running time that Fox cut from the movie! It's just really sad. Savber's intent with the boycott, I'm *guessing*, was to signal to the producers and funders of this movie that not everyone is pleased with their apparent half-hearted efforts!
And Princess Jennifer, I HAVE emailed them, as well as written to them and called to them. I'm a Narnia fan and feel I have a right to be here and express my opinions as much as the next person – those were my only intentions – not to 'make a fuss', as you say. And please, don't assume that just because someone disagrees with you that they have no brain – that's an assumption that can very easily be drawn from your previous comment. People have differing opinions, but that does not mean they're less intelligent or stupid – just different!

  49. Princess Jennifer says:

Today, I was deep in thought as I walked in our woods. Nepolian, our Saint Bernard puppy accompanied me as we walked in search of the white stag. We walked, and walked, until I stopped. Nepolian walked on though. I was just looking around when I turned behind me to see some creature following me. It kept trootting towards me. I thought it was a stray cat, so I sat down and began to call for it. I cheered " Here kitty, Kitty !" It began to run for me. It wasn't until the last second that I discovered. It wasn't a pretty cat…………..it was a opposeum !! I stood up and began to walk back when nepolian came soaring through the bushes. They fought for a while, but nepolian scared it. I felt sorry for the opposeum if it was being friendly, but Instead of acting dead, like most do, it beared it's teeth. I promise, you have my word, this is a true story.

  50. Princess Jennifer says:

I never said you were stupid. I agree people are different. I was just saying how I don't know why everyone thinks this cover is not good. I mean, people will be watching the movie, not the cover !! uh…..

  51. Talvi says:

I was referring to "Finally, someone who has a brain that can think !!! " in reference to someone who agreed with you – the first person who has a brain, in other words. I took that negatively. *shrugs* Whatever.
The movie and cover are related – in several ways, people will be watching the cover! Because if they'd never heard of it before, if it's a boring/drab/what have you, they will read the cover and only the cover, be put off by it, and not buy/watch the movie. In my *opinion*, the unfinished looking cover does NOT bode for a good movie. From as subjective a standpoint as I can assume, if I saw that cover in the stores, I would assume it was some badly-made children's movie and pass it over. It would not make me want to pick it up, in other words. That's what constitutes a badly-made cover to me. A cover should be well-made and attention-grabbing, but the thing that grabs my attention should *not* be the numerous errors and loose ends within the cover alone. If the cover is that unfinished, I would think, then what would the movie inside be like?
… I'm way too analytical, I know. Just how I am. But forget it… I'm more than finished here. I don't know how else to phrase my multiple issues of the covers, so I'm just backing out of this.

(Also, please note – I'm only talking about the last cover. The first one looks really good, and the second is okay. Most of my comments have been directed towards the third cover alone.)

  52. Princess Jennifer says:

FYI, I didn't mean it in too much of an offensive way, more like congratulating lucy for being thankful that there *is* a good cover. Truthfully, I think the third was my favorite !! I am also more than finished. ok ? So you may go your way, and I may go mine……..

  53. Princess Jennifer says:

Fire up, from you to me,
    C'mon let's go USC !!

    Go….USC !!!

  54. Arvan says:

It looks awful! I saw better pics when we got production stills from fans than that ugly view of the Dawn Treader! Sabver100 is perfectly right.

As for what I'd put on the covers, I don't know, maybe the actual main characters? That'd be Lucy, Edmund, EUSTACE, CASPIAN, and maybe Reepicheep. Obviously Aslan, but maybe an image of him instead of a generic lion that looks little like him? No White Witch, either, and at the center a picture of the Dawn Treader as it appears in the film this cover is advertising!

  55. Arvan says:

Well this is fascinating! Here we have a few people stating their opinion calmly, and then getting flamed for it! I don't appreciate this at all…
Just because someone disagrees with you doesn't mean you need to repeat yourself over and over again, talking like they're foolish. And thanking people for seeing how you're right isn't very polite to the others who you just ranted at. Please, could you be more polite when commenting? I felt like being sick while reading some of those rude remarks. This is NarniaWeb, for goodness' sake!

  56. Arvan says:

    ???

  57. ajSilver X says:

Magnificent cover art for dawn treader DVD and Blu-ray.
can't wait to see dawn treader again and now with it's deleted and behind the scenes with the making of the magnificent film.

  58. Not Of This World says:

    LOL that was cool!

  59. Princess Jennifer says:

I am not trying to be rude. But I am trying to prove my point. That no one really understands. ( no effense). I am sorry if I have toubled you, but look at it this way, it is like government. We are calmy (Yes, calmy) trying to prove our point. And when I said * Finally, Someone who has a brain* It was more in humor, than in an offensive way.Like you sad before, this is Narnia web, not ladylike web.
